Update
Mum is doing well in hospital down south. More scans today, results tomorrow, and if all is well back home on Thursday. Yorkshire has never seemed quite so far away until this week.

Would the churches suddenly grind to a halt if you just left for a few days?
We spend so much of our time caring for other people’s parents in illness and crisis. I hope you can make space to be with your mother if you want to.

Thankfully, I have a good team of people well able to step into the breach for a couple of days when necessary.
Good news is mum is now out of hospital, and being pampered at home by my stepdad, and enjoyed being sung nursery rhymes by my brother’s wee girls who phoned the hospital from Moscow. Given that stress seems to have been a major factor, she’s decided to slow down and retire at Christmas, and is using accrued vacation time between now and then to avoid the office. She’s also decided that the fuss of a visit would be too much, so not going down just yet - heading down just before Christmas for a flying visit instead.
